Lake Trout: Manitou is well known for lake trout fishing.  Open from January first right through to the end of September, there are many ways and opportunities to catch some great lakers.  Common sizes are 3lbs and 6 lbs.

 Pickerel harder to find but dedicated anglers know that in Lake Manitou or remote lakes nearby, pickerel are

BASS: Watch your kids catch their first bass off the docks, If you’re here in the fall the dock produces some 1-2and3 lbs smallmouth.  Boat anglers have a great chance at great bass. 

Whitefish       manitoulin fishingCaught during June by using a fly right off the dock!   Also caught 3 lakers that same afternoon, also off the dock!  Spring fighing at its best!

Rainbow Trout in the Manitou River in the spring (run usually lasts late April – mid-May) or head out for the monsters in nearby Manitowaning Bay.

Jumbo Perch in Lake Manitou or the nearby Lake Mindemoya (school-up season usually lasts mid-September to mid-October…take home limit 25!)

Salmon Coho and Pink…head out on Lake Huron, from the nearby marina at SouthBaymouth.  Charters available!

Pike: Yes, even the Great Northern lurks within Manitou’s western waters!

Speckled Trout: This remarkable species has seen a come-back in Lake Manitou and in the Manitou Rivers’ sparkling clear waters…fly-fishing alert!
